Flying Aces of Aurora

We are an AMA Chartered Remote Control Airplane Club

R/C Charter Club 4859

We are an AMA sanctioned radio control flying club. Visit when the weather is nice and folks are flying; we would love to meet you! Current AMA and Club membership required to use the facilities.

Beginners to Experts

We fly fixed wing airplanes, helicopters, and quad-copters and you can too! Our members can teach you how to fly,  program electronics,  and even offer mentorship in building kits.

Interested in starting? Looking for a new home airfield? We've got you covered. Simply email flyingacesinfo@gmail.com with your questions.

 

 

We share the airfield with the Mantua Missile club; alternating weekends between the two clubs.

Usually, we have the field the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month.

 

Flying hours are:
Monday thru Saturday:
Electric, Gas & Glow: 9 am until dusk

Sunday: 
Electric: 9 am until dusk
Gas & Glow: 10 am until dusk

Note! Turbine engine aircraft are prohibited. Mufflers are required on all non-electric engines.

    Aces, our club calendar was just updated with three events as discussed at our meeting:

    1. Summer Fun Fly, Saturday, July 11th 9 am - 3 pm
    2. Night Fly, Saturday, July 18th 6 pm - 11 pm
    3. Night Fly, Saturday, August 1st 6 pm - 11 pm

Flying Field

Our Flying Field

Aurora Flying Field

  • Our airfield is wide open with no nearby trees or obstacles. 
  • We've got a 300' geo-textile runway center stage with large grass aprons on all sides.
  • Members created a 140' diameter zone for control-line enthusiasts to fly.
  • At the start of flying season, the club rolls the runway with heavy machinery for smoother flight ops.
  • Throughout the season, the grass is meticulously mowed and kept short for easy ground taxi.
  • We've got a nice shelter with concrete pad, tables, and most importantly- electrical outlets!
  • The City of Aurora provides a portable toilet and refreshes the gravel driveway annually.
